March 16, 2021 – The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) opened enrollment for NC Medicaid Managed Care. These new plans will go into effect on July 1, 2021, and approximately 1.6 million of the 2.4 million Medicaid recipients in the state are eligible.

There will be five health plans to choose from, and all plans are required to provide the same Medicaid services, though each plan has its own network of qualified doctors and healthcare providers. Open enrollment for this program ends May 14, 2021.
